State Level Competition
WHY COMPETITION IS GOOD FOR KIDS
Our competitions are great Teachers. Sometimes, it’s about sticking with a difficult task until it’s done. This kind of persistence comes from discipline and focus, two qualities that UCMAS drills into students from day one, which fuels problem-solving.
Whether it’s learning how to beat the timer during a flash calculation round or completing challenging assignments at home, UCMAS students are constantly refining their attention span. They learn how to manage distractions, regulate their thoughts, and push through difficult situations.
Think about it, can a child solve problems if they don’t believe they can? UCMAS isn’t just about training the brain, it’s about transforming the self-belief that sits behind the brain. As children begin to solve problems independently without a calculator, a cheat sheet, or even a helping hand, they begin to realize their own potential.
That “I did it!” moment is where real confidence is born. It’s not based on praise; it’s based on proof. The child knows, from experience, that they can find solutions. That knowledge becomes their inner voice, their calm during chaos, and their strength during setbacks.
