Today’s children are experiencing math phobia more than ever.
Mathematics has a reputation for being a difficult subject, however, the fear of math stems from many reasons, including Ineffective teaching methods, topped up with Parental pressure.
When concepts are not explained clearly and there is a huge dependency on memorizing formulae children struggle to grasp the material, leading to frustration and a feeling of inadequacy.
Mathematics does not have to be scary! There is a sure way to conquer this fear and enjoy the Magic of numbers.
Let’s dive into the ancient way of solving arithmetic problems from which your modern children will benefit immensely.
UCMAS, or Universal Concept of Mental Arithmetic System, is a unique and scientifically proven Mental development program. Founded in Kuala Lumpur, it has success stories in over 80 countries.
It is designed for children between the ages of 5 and 13 which are the Prime brain development years.
What does UCMAS do differently?
This program encourages students to have fun with numbers. It uses the ancient ABACUS as a teaching tool for developing Mental Arithmetic skills.
- UCMAS uses visualization of the ABACUS to solve arithmetic problems.
- The program enhances levels of concentration, observation & memorization.
- Additionally, students gain a better understanding of application, reasoning, and judgment.
Is UCMAS only meant for weak students?
While this may be the primary reason for parents to enrol their children in our program, the varied benefits of the UCMAS program highlight the key outcomes, essential for a well-rounded personality.
- Higher levels of Audio, Visual, and Kinaesthetic skills
When UCMAS students attempt to solve an arithmetic problem, they are required to Listen actively, Visualize the abacus, and manoeuvre their hands to derive the correct answer. This practice compels even the smartest kids to trust the process.
- Enhanced Learning ability, Writing skills & Endurance – The high levels of focus-driven learning result in faster grasping of other subjects too.
- Inculcation of Self-Discipline – Dependency on one’s mental abilities gives confidence that a calculator does not. This requires practice and self-discipline, a great lifelong skill.
Class Structure :
- UCMAS classes are held for two hours per week.
- The course is designed to be stress-free.
- Daily practice of 15-20 minutes at home.
- Class size is limited to a maximum of 15 students per instructor.
- Online classes available too.
How is your Child’s progress assessed?
UCMAS conducts an International Grading Exam to assess the progress and skills of their students globally.
It provides an opportunity for students to showcase their Mental Arithmetic Skills and compete with participants from different countries.
This exam is designed to evaluate the student’s Mental math abilities and their proficiency in using the Abacus.
It’s a great way to reward our students for their outstanding achievements.
